This wonderful surbahar has recently been built in an antique style. It was inspired by an old sitar-style surbahar that I sold to the Citi de la Musique in Paris a few years ago. which was once the property of the King of Afghanistan. Please follow this link for more information on the Paris instrument... Surbahar, late 19th century
The tabli (soundboard) on the new instrument is almost an exact copy of the 19th-century version. The headstock was inspired by master luthier Chris Dodderidge and looks fantastic. A lot of the white decoration is made from bone and the polish has a matt finish, which certainly adds to the style of this special instrument.
The price of this instrument includes a fiber flightcase. You can view this instrument in Roosendaal, The Netherlands.
